Parramasala Festival has grown into a signature event celebrating the diverse and rich cultures of greater Sydney and NSW.
Over 500 performers from 40 cultures made their way along Church Street to open the festival with a street party like no other!
..this place was really pumping, beating of drums, music, dance, & food from more than 40 cultures..
…a parade rich in colour and full of energy,
Sunday 4/03 Pyrmont Ballaarat Park 6:00am.
Thanks to Fujiko for organising. It was a perfect morning to shoot sunrise against the buildings looking across to Barangaroo. There were great clouds and the sun gave us lovely colour. We headed off for coffee /breakfast which was an opportunity for a ‘catch up’. Later some of us headed to the older part of the Rocks where there are some very old terrace homes and old pubs, then onto the market area.

Tuesday 27/02 Welcome back to Ben Lee who judged our Open competition.
Ben is a freelance photographer with great people skills and an eye for detail.
This showed through with his excellent comments on members work, helpful to members learning.
His main focus today is a mixture of portraiture, commercial, sport and documentary assignments.

Tuesday 13/2 ‘Heery’s World’ presented by film director Liz Jones.
Heery’s World is a fascinating and compelling journey into the creative life and mind of Gary Heery, one of Australia’s most renowned portrait photographers.

The Program for 2018 is looking fantastic with a great variety to suit most members.

There have been some changes to the Program as follows.
Each competition has an Open subject and alternate month has a Set subject competition.
Members may enter two sections – Prints and Projected Images.
Open would be Prints and the set subject competition entries submitted as Projected Images.
The number of images will be the same; Prints 2 mono, 2 colour / 2 Digital – tagged at the end of the title 1,2, 3 as in the past.
(3 times and the image is out altogether/we don’t want to see it again!
CLOSE OFF FOR ALL ENTRIES: Will be the Friday before the Tuesday competition.
Prints will NOT be extended to the Monday.
ONLINE : Entries will NO longer be ‘First Time’.
New or Old images (as long as they have not already been entered 3 times) can be entered, tagged at the end of the title 1, 2 or 3 (3 times and the image is out altogether/we don’t want to see it again!
This brings ONLINE, in line with the normal competition as above.
1 x image, Digital upload.
CLOSE OFF: entries close at the end of each month.
AWARDS: Any work awarded a Merit or Credit during a calendar year may not be re-entered in a monthly competition in the same calendar year. (Can be re-entered in the next year/s)

Thank you to all who helped organise such a happy, friendly and fun end of year luncheon to acknowledge the great work from all club members who had won awards during the year. I was honored to be invited to judge the end of year categories and I certainly had a hard time choosing the different category winners. The event itself went off without a hitch and I am sure that everyone appreciated the efforts that the organisers put in. I attended with two other friends the club meeting on 10 October 2017.
We were warmly received at the door and welcomed in.
We found the guest speaker and presenter, Tom Putt, very knowledgeable and a professional at his work. His passion for photography, particularly aerial photography, was inspiring. I took his card and intend visiting him when I’m next in Melbourne. His aerial photography was absolutely amazing. So happy that we attended.

Tuesday 26/09 Creative competition – judge Tanya Du Toit
I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful talent that you have in your club. I am also very thankful for the positive feedback that I received on the night. It was really lovely to have some members come up and thank me for my comments and critiquing. I try to make an effort in giving something useful with my judging. Although creative is harder to give technical critique to I hope I imparted some knowledge and inspiration and I can honestly say that I got inspiration from the work that I saw on the night. thank you all again for a great comp night.
I feel she was as well pretty good. Very constructive in feedback, not holding back with advise (if its creative it has to be creative!) and open however short and sharp. And I like that she judged the A grade harder than the B – grade. Something I sense not all judges do. – Jochen Hess
